Last week, Squantum 3rd graders visited Plimoth Patuxet Plantation to explore life in the 17th century.
In touring the museum, students learned about the history of the Wampanoag people, the indigenous tribe that lived in the area, and the arrival of the Pilgrims in 1620. They explored the recreated 17th-century English village, where they saw how the colonists lived, worked, and interacted with the Wampanoag people.
The students also visited the Wampanoag Homesite, where they learned about the Wampanoag's way of life through cooking and farming demonstrations.
Thank you to everyone who enabled our students' visit to Plimoth Patuxet–the experience helped them to step back in time and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and accomplishments of the early colonists and the indigenous peoples of our local area.
